First seen May 09, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study tests two blood thinners, bivalirudin and heparin, in 80 adults on ECMO (a machine that helps the heart and lungs). The goal is to see which drug keeps blood thin enough to prevent clots without causing dangerous bleeding. Participants are randomly assigned to one of the two drugs. The study also looks at costs and how often the ECMO circuit needs to be changed.
