Can MIRCERA keep anemia in check for kidney patients?
NCT ID NCT02567188
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 23, 2026 · Updated 39 times
Summary
This study followed 144 adults with chronic kidney disease (stages 3-4) who were not yet on dialysis and were already taking MIRCERA for anemia. Researchers tracked their hemoglobin levels and any changes in treatment over 12 months to see how well the drug works in everyday medical practice. The goal was to understand if MIRCERA helps maintain safe and stable red blood cell levels without major fluctuations.

What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
MIRCERA (methoxy polyethylene glycol-epoetin beta)
What this could lead to
If successful, this study could confirm that MIRCERA helps maintain stable hemoglobin levels in pre-dialysis CKD patients, supporting its use for anemia management.
What could go wrong
This is an observational study, not a controlled trial, so results may be influenced by other factors. It does not test a new treatment, only monitors existing use.
Conditions
The condition(s) this trial relates to.
As listed by the trial registrant
The condition terms exactly as the trial's registrant entered them.
