Can a blood pressure drug help kids with rare genetic condition?
NCT ID NCT00876200
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 30 times
Summary
This study tested whether minoxidil, a blood pressure medicine, could improve blood vessel health in children with Williams-Beuren syndrome. The condition causes heart and blood vessel problems due to a lack of a protein called elastin. Twenty-one children took minoxidil or a placebo for 12 months to see if it helped their arteries. The goal was to find a way to manage the disease, not cure it.
