This study tested a 4-week program where young ethnic minority adults (ages 18-35) with a family history of heart disease practiced slow, guided breathing to improve stress control. Participants were split into two groups: one did the breathing exercises, the other did not. Researchers measured heart rate, anxiety, and stress responses to see if this simple technique could help lower heart disease risk. The goal was to learn whether a low-cost, non-drug approach can support better health in high-risk communities.
