Summary

This study tested whether wearing minimalist (barefoot-style) shoes for 4 hours a day over 5 months changes foot muscles, stability, and pressure in healthy adults. 90 participants were split into minimalist shoe and regular shoe groups. The goal was to see medium-term effects on foot health, with results possibly used to promote minimalist footwear.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
Minimalist footwear (Saguaro brand)
What this could lead to
If positive changes are found, this could encourage promoting minimalist footwear for better foot health in healthy people.
What could go wrong
This is a small, completed study in healthy adults, so results may not apply to people with foot pain or conditions. It only measured short-term effects over 5 months.
