Mindfulness meditation shows promise for addiction recovery in tiny study
NCT ID NCT07417579
First seen Feb 19, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 19 times
Summary
This study looked at whether an 8-week mindfulness and meditation program could help people with substance use disorders avoid relapse. Only 3 people took part, and while they all felt less stressed and more mindful after the program, two of them still relapsed within a year. One person stayed sober long-term. The study was too small to draw firm conclusions, but it suggests mindfulness might be a helpful addition to recovery support.
