Can mindfulness and biofeedback beat anxiety meds? new study says yes

NCT ID NCT07628153

First seen Jun 08, 2026 · Last updated Jun 13, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study tested a 10-day mindfulness program using biofeedback (a tool that shows your body's stress signals) against medication (escitalopram) and a combination of both in 188 adults hospitalized with anxiety disorders. The goal was to see which approach better reduced anxiety and improved mindfulness. Results showed that mindfulness with biofeedback, alone or with medication, helped lower anxiety and increase mindfulness, offering a drug-free option for managing symptoms.
