NCT ID NCT07326761
First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 20 times
Summary
This study checked if critically ill newborns in the NICU are exposed to microplastics from the plastic IV systems used to deliver life-saving nutrition. Researchers compared 12 babies who got IV nutrition for different lengths of time with those who didn't, using special plastic-free tools to test their blood. The goal is to understand this hidden risk and help make medical equipment safer for the tiniest patients.
