Tiny particles in blood may help spot hidden cancer spread

NCT ID NCT03969784

First seen Nov 20, 2025 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 21 times

Summary

This study looked at tiny particles called microparticles in the blood of 41 people with colorectal cancer that spread to the lining of the abdomen. The goal was to see if these particles could serve as a better way to detect this spread early, compared to current tests. Researchers compared particle patterns between patients with and without abdominal spread, and tracked changes during surgery and over time.
