Summary

This study tests whether adding the antibiotic metronidazole to standard therapy can reduce certain bacteria linked to worse outcomes in rectal cancer. About 60 adults with locally advanced rectal cancer will receive either standard treatment alone or with metronidazole. The goal is to see if this approach is safe and can improve treatment results.
