NCT ID NCT04579848
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 22 times
Summary
This study tests whether methotrexate, a drug used for other types of arthritis, can reduce pain and improve hand function in people with a severe form of hand osteoarthritis. About 163 adults with painful finger joints that haven't responded to standard pain relievers will receive either methotrexate or a placebo for 6 months. The main goal is to see if finger pain decreases more with methotrexate than with placebo.
