Summary

This study tests whether methotrexate, a drug used for other types of arthritis, can reduce pain and improve hand function in people with a severe form of hand osteoarthritis. About 163 adults with painful, swollen finger joints will receive either methotrexate or a placebo for 6 months. The main goal is to see if finger pain decreases significantly compared to placebo.
