One-Dose methadone may slash opioid use after hysterectomy

Summary
This study tests whether giving a single dose of methadone during laparoscopic or robotic hysterectomy can reduce the need for opioid painkillers after surgery. The goal is to lower the risk of opioid abuse and side effects. About 100 adults having a hysterectomy for non-cancer reasons will take part. Half will get methadone during surgery, and the other half will get standard short-acting opioids.
