Summary

This study tested whether oral metformin, a common diabetes medication, can treat moderate to severe acne as effectively as the antibiotic doxycycline. 68 people with acne took either metformin twice daily or doxycycline once daily for 12 weeks. Researchers measured acne improvement using lesion counts and a grading system at the start, 8 weeks, and 12 weeks.
