Diabetes drug gel tested to boost dental implant success
NCT ID NCT07469254
Summary
This study tested whether adding a gel containing metformin—a common diabetes medication—to a bone graft material could improve healing and long-term stability for dental implants placed immediately after tooth removal. The research involved 20 healthy adults needing implants in visible tooth areas. Doctors measured implant stability, bone growth, and gum health over one year to see if the metformin gel made a difference.
