Summary

This study tests whether metformin, a drug already used for diabetes, can help obese, non-diabetic people lose weight and reduce their risk of heart disease. Researchers will give 220 Black Nigerian adults either metformin or a placebo for several months. The goal is to see if metformin is a safe and affordable option for weight management in this population.
