Metaphors may boost antibiotic smarts in chinese parents

NCT ID NCT07352371

First seen Jan 21, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 21 times

Summary

This study tested whether using everyday comparisons (like comparing antibiotic resistance to insect resistance to pesticides) helps Chinese parents learn about proper antibiotic use. Over 800 parents were split into two groups: one received metaphor-based health messages, the other got standard information. Researchers measured changes in knowledge, willingness to pay for antibiotic-free food, and proper disposal of old antibiotics.
