Brain training for better knees: mental coaching tested for ACL recovery
NCT ID NCT03209531
Summary
This study tested whether a form of mental coaching called 'operant conditioning' could help people regain thigh muscle strength after ACL surgery. Researchers worked with 11 adults who had undergone ACL reconstruction, using brain stimulation and encouragement techniques to try to improve muscle activation. The goal was to see if this mental approach could complement physical therapy to protect knees from future arthritis.
