Alzheimer's drug memantine studied in healthy brains – but study stopped early
NCT ID NCT02288000
First seen May 08, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 4 times
Summary
This early-phase study aimed to see if taking memantine, an Alzheimer's drug, for 15 days would change results on a battery of cognitive tests, brain scans, and EEGs in healthy young men aged 18-30. The goal was to validate these tests as tools for future Alzheimer's drug development. The study was terminated early, so results are limited.
