NCT ID NCT07568873

First seen May 12, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 5 times

Summary

This study tested whether a simple melatonin pill could reduce stress from breathing tube placement and improve surgical conditions during sinus surgery, compared to two common heart medications. 112 adults undergoing elective sinus surgery were randomly assigned to receive melatonin, metoprolol, dexmedetomidine, or a placebo. Researchers measured blood pressure, heart rate, and surgical field clarity to see which drug worked best.
