Sleep hormone tested as new hope for aching knees
NCT ID NCT06012175
Summary
This study tested whether melatonin, a hormone that helps regulate sleep, could safely reduce pain in people with knee osteoarthritis. Researchers gave 340 adults either melatonin pills or a placebo for 12 weeks to see if it improved their pain, stiffness, and ability to move. The goal was to find a new treatment option with fewer side effects than current pain medications.
