Summary
This study investigated whether melatonin, a hormone that helps regulate sleep, can reduce pain in people with knee osteoarthritis. Researchers enrolled 340 adults with moderate knee arthritis and randomly gave them either melatonin pills or placebo pills for 12 weeks. They measured changes in pain, stiffness, physical function, and sleep quality to see if melatonin provided safe and effective relief.
