Can a natural sleep hormone replace strong sedatives for anxious kids before surgery?
NCT ID NCT06489327
Summary
This study is testing whether two different doses of melatonin, a natural hormone that helps regulate sleep, can safely reduce anxiety in children before they go into surgery. It will compare melatonin to a common sedative called midazolam, which can sometimes cause unwanted side effects. The trial involves 120 children between 4 and 14 years old who are having planned surgeries.
