Can a natural sleep aid replace strong sedatives for scared kids before surgery?
NCT ID NCT06489327
Summary
This study is testing if melatonin, a natural hormone that helps regulate sleep, can safely reduce anxiety in children before surgery. It will compare two different doses of oral melatonin in 120 children aged 4 to 14 who are having elective operations. The goal is to find a gentler alternative to common sedative drugs like midazolam, which can have side effects.
