Brain-Tuned meditation shows promise for Schizophrenia's toughest symptoms

NCT ID NCT07437365

First seen Feb 28, 2026 · Last updated May 19, 2026 · Updated 15 times

Summary

This study tested whether guided meditation combined with binaural beats (special sound frequencies) could help reduce negative symptoms of schizophrenia, like low motivation and social withdrawal. Ninety hospitalized adults took part in a six-week program. Those who received meditation with theta-frequency sound improved the most. While not all results were statistically strong, this low-cost, drug-free approach shows potential and needs larger studies to confirm.
