Could a vitamin pill boost eye injection results for blocked retina veins?

NCT ID NCT07133438

First seen Feb 25, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 9 times

Summary

This study tests whether adding a nerve-protecting drug (mecobalamin, similar to vitamin B12) to standard anti-VEGF eye injections can improve vision and reduce the number of injections needed for people with retinal vein occlusion (a blocked vein in the eye). About 120 adults with this condition will receive either mecobalamin pills or placebo pills for 6 months, plus their usual injections. Researchers will track eye thickness, vision, and side effects over one year to see if the combination works better than injections alone.
