New drug aims to protect cancer patients from chemo side effect

Summary
This study tests whether mecapegfilgrastim can safely prevent moderate-to-severe low blood cell counts (myelosuppression) caused by chemotherapy and radiation in people with lung or esophageal cancer. About 30 adults aged 18-75 will receive the drug and be monitored for side effects. The goal is to provide better evidence for using this medication to manage a common and serious complication of cancer therapy.
