New cholesterol drug shows promise for kidney dialysis patients

Summary
This study tested a new drug called MCI-196 to see if it lowers 'bad' cholesterol better than a placebo and as well as the standard drug simvastatin in people with advanced chronic kidney disease who are on dialysis. About 260 adults on stable dialysis took part. The goal is to manage cholesterol levels to reduce heart risks, not to cure kidney disease.
