Small study tests exercise safety in kids with MCADD
NCT ID NCT06796530
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This completed pilot study looked at how high-intensity exercise affects children with MCADD, a rare genetic condition that makes it hard to break down certain fats for energy. Eight participants (4 with MCADD and 4 healthy controls) aged 8-17 did cycling tests and high-intensity circuit training. Researchers measured blood glucose and other metabolic markers before and after exercise to check safety and energy use.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this study could help develop safe exercise guidelines for children with MCADD.
- What could go wrong
- This is a very small pilot study with only 4 patients, so results may not apply to everyone. The main goal is safety, not treatment.
