New eye dye could make retinal scans safer

NCT ID NCT04008121

First seen Jan 09, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 20 times

Summary

This early study tests a new dye called MB-102 for eye imaging (angiography) in 10 people with or without retinal diseases like diabetic retinopathy or macular degeneration. The goal is to see if MB-102 is safe and produces clear images compared to the standard dye, fluorescein sodium. If successful, it could offer a safer alternative for diagnosing eye conditions.
