Summary

This study looks at 40 mothers and their 6-month-old babies to see if mindfulness training during pregnancy helps them handle stress better together. Researchers will measure heart rate and stress responses during a short separation-and-reunion task. They will then check if these stress patterns are linked to heart disease risk markers a year after birth.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to
If successful, this study could reveal how mindfulness training during pregnancy might lower heart disease risk for both mother and child by improving stress regulation.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage observational study (40 participants) that does not test a new treatment. Results may not apply to all populations, and the link between stress responses and heart disease risk is not yet proven.

Study facts

What this study's own registry entry says, in plain language.

Phase

Not a phased trial

Phase numbers describe drug development. The registry uses this when they do not apply, as it does for trials of devices, procedures or behaviour changes, and for observational studies.
