New device aims to prevent pelvic muscle tears during childbirth

Summary
This study tests a device called Materna Prep that gently stretches the vagina and pelvic floor before delivery. The goal is to see if it reduces muscle injuries during birth. About 420 women having their first vaginal birth will be randomly assigned to use the device or receive standard care. Participants will be followed for 12 months after delivery.
