New nerve block could slash opioid use after breast cancer surgery

Summary

This study tests whether a special nerve block (SPSIP block) can reduce pain and the need for strong painkillers after mastectomy and lymph node removal. About 50 women having breast cancer surgery will receive either the nerve block or a placebo. The goal is to improve recovery and reduce opioid use.
