Veterans' back pain study: can a gentle touch beat usual care?

NCT ID NCT07161661

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 29 times

Summary

This study looks at whether adding Osteopathic Manipulative Therapy (OMT) — a hands-on technique using stretching and gentle pressure — to standard VA care can improve outcomes for veterans and service members with chronic low back pain. About 48 participants will be randomly assigned to receive either usual VA care alone or usual care plus OMT. The goal is to see if this approach is feasible and to measure its effects on pain and daily function.
