New 3D plate could simplify jaw fracture surgery
NCT ID NCT07574554
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether a single 3D titanium miniplate can replace the standard two-plate method for fixing a broken jaw (mandibular angle fracture). Twenty male patients will be randomly assigned to receive either the 3D plate or the standard two plates. The main goal is to see which approach helps patients regain normal bite force faster.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- 3D titanium miniplate
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this could show that a single 3D plate works as well as two standard plates, possibly leading to simpler surgeries and faster recovery for jaw fractures.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early-stage trial with only 20 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The 3D plate might not provide enough stability for all fracture types.
