Brain zaps to beat depression relapse: new trial tests maintenance therapy
NCT ID NCT06938841
First seen May 03, 2026 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 5 times
Summary
This study tests whether regular sessions of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) can help people with treatment-resistant depression maintain the benefits they got from an initial round of rTMS. 75 adults who previously responded to rTMS will receive either standard, clustered, or sham (fake) maintenance rTMS for 6 months. Researchers will measure brain connectivity and depression symptoms to see which schedule works best.
