Could magnesium make jaw widening easier and less painful?

NCT ID NCT07309640

First seen Jan 10, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 26 times

Summary

This study looks at whether taking magnesium supplements can help adults aged 18-30 with a narrow upper jaw get better results from a special orthodontic treatment called Alt-RAMEC. The treatment uses a device to widen the upper jaw. Half of the 38 participants will take magnesium pills during treatment, and the other half will not. Researchers will measure changes in jaw structure and muscle activity, and ask about pain levels, to see if magnesium helps improve outcomes and reduce discomfort.
