New injection could sharpen cancer detection in lymph nodes
NCT ID NCT02285192
First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 19 times
Summary
This early-phase study tests whether injecting a radioactive sugar (18F-FDG) into the cervix before a PET/CT scan can more clearly show which pelvic lymph nodes contain cancer in women with stage IB1 cervical cancer or high-grade endometrial cancer. About 42 women scheduled for surgery will receive the injection and then have their lymph nodes removed and checked under a microscope to see how accurate the scan was. The goal is to improve surgical planning and avoid removing healthy nodes.
