Scientists map healthy lungs to protect patients on ventilators
NCT ID NCT04194346
Summary
This study aimed to establish normal measurements for how the lungs move during breathing in healthy volunteers. Researchers used a specialized ultrasound tool to scan the lungs of 81 healthy adults while they breathed different volumes of air. The goal is to create a baseline so doctors can better detect harmful lung overstretching in patients who need mechanical breathing support.
