Scientists map healthy lungs to protect ventilated patients
NCT ID NCT04194346
Summary
This study aimed to create a baseline of normal lung movement in healthy volunteers using a specialized ultrasound technique. Researchers measured how the lung lining stretches during different breath sizes in 81 healthy adults. The goal is to use this 'normal' data as a reference to help detect harmful overstretching in patients who need breathing machines, potentially preventing lung injury.
