Ultrasound vs X-Ray: which spots pneumonia faster in the ER?
NCT ID NCT04210102
First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 16 times
Summary
This study tests whether lung ultrasound (LUS) is as good as or better than chest X-ray for diagnosing pneumonia in emergency room patients. About 47 adults with suspected pneumonia will get both scans, and researchers will compare how often each test correctly identifies the infection. If LUS proves accurate, it could offer a faster, radiation-free way to diagnose pneumonia and reduce unnecessary antibiotic use.
