Doctors test ultrasound as safer, faster way to check Kids' breathing tubes

NCT ID NCT02822846

Summary

This study tested whether using an ultrasound machine on the lungs could accurately check if a breathing tube was placed correctly in a child's windpipe. Researchers compared the ultrasound results to standard chest X-rays in 79 children under 18 who were on a ventilator. The goal was to see if this faster, bedside method could be as reliable as an X-ray for confirming safe tube placement.
