New procedure aims to starve and poison lung tumors

Summary
This study is testing a minimally invasive procedure called transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) for patients with advanced lung cancer or lung metastases that have stopped responding to standard treatments. The procedure works by injecting chemotherapy directly into the artery feeding the tumor and then blocking that artery with tiny beads, trapping the drugs and cutting off the tumor's blood supply. Researchers want to see if this approach can safely control tumor growth in patients who have run out of other treatment options.
