New 'Breathing' strategy aims to speed up lung transplant recovery
NCT ID NCT07384546
Summary
This study is testing whether a special anesthesia and surgery approach that helps patients keep breathing on their own during a lung transplant can lead to a faster and safer recovery. About 110 adults with end-stage lung disease will receive a lung transplant using this 'tubeless' strategy, which avoids putting patients on a breathing machine with a tube when possible. Researchers will track how many patients need a breathing machine after surgery, how long their hospital stay is, and their survival for 90 days to see if this method improves recovery.
