Doctors try injecting chemo straight into lung tumors
NCT ID NCT04809103
Summary
This early safety study tested whether injecting the chemotherapy drug cisplatin directly into lung tumors before surgery is safe and tolerable. Six patients with early-stage, operable non-small cell lung cancer received the injection during a single bronchoscopy procedure. The goal was to see if this targeted approach could help the immune system fight cancer while avoiding the side effects of traditional IV chemotherapy.
