Blood test may replace needle biopsies for lung cancer detection

NCT ID NCT04162678

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 25 times

Summary

This study looked at whether a blood test, called a fluid biopsy, can accurately diagnose lung cancer. Researchers collected blood samples from 51 people who were either scheduled for a lung biopsy or had recently had one. The goal was to see if the blood test could detect cancer as well as a traditional tissue biopsy, potentially offering a safer and easier way to screen for lung cancer in the future.
