Scientists create 'Atlas' of lung changes in High-Risk smokers

NCT ID NCT03881098

Summary

This study aims to create a detailed map of the very early cellular changes in the lungs that can lead to cancer. Researchers will follow 240 high-risk current or former smokers over 2-3 years, performing regular lung exams (bronchoscopies) to collect tissue samples. The goal is to understand the biology of these pre-cancerous changes to ultimately find better ways to prevent lung cancer and reduce deaths.
