Awake vs. asleep: which lung biopsy method gives better answers?

NCT ID NCT05722340

First seen Apr 07, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 5 times

Summary

This study compares two ways to perform a lung biopsy in people with interstitial lung disease (a group of lung conditions that cause scarring). One method uses a breathing tube and full anesthesia, while the other keeps the patient awake but numb. The goal is to see which method provides better tissue samples for diagnosis. About 24 adults will take part.
