NCT ID NCT05336682
First seen Feb 28, 2026 · Last updated Jun 22, 2026 · Updated 13 times
Summary
This study tested two simpler treatments called Lesion Sterilization and Tissue Repair (LSTR) against the standard root canal procedure for infected baby molars in 66 children. One LSTR method used a special antibiotic paste placed directly on the tooth's pulp, while the other also cleaned the root canals. The goal was to see if these less invasive options could work as well as the standard treatment, potentially making dental visits easier for children.

What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
triple antibiotic paste with propylene glycol
What this could lead to
If successful, these simpler, less invasive treatments could become a standard option for saving infected baby teeth in children.
What could go wrong
This is a small, single-center trial with only 66 children. The results may not apply to all kids or other teeth, and the antibiotic paste could cause allergic reactions or other side effects.
