Cancer study questions high steroid doses before chemo
NCT ID NCT02776436
Summary
This study tested whether patients with breast or prostate cancer could safely take a lower dose of the steroid dexamethasone before receiving the chemotherapy drug docetaxel. The goal was to see if reducing the steroid dose could lessen steroid side effects like mood changes and blood sugar problems, without increasing bad reactions to the chemo. Researchers worked with 46 patients to find the lowest effective steroid dose.
